Apprentice Electrician (Cal Poly)

Royal Electric Company has an immediate need for onsite Apprentice Electricians to work on an exciting project at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.

Summary:
Working under a Journeyman Electrician for Royal Electric, the Apprentice will serve as an integral team member on the Cal Poly project.  While assisting with support activities on the jobsite, the Apprentice will gain valuable on-the-job experience, training hours, and an ultimate sense of fulfillment in working in their Trade of choice. 

Responsibilities Include:
  • Assist with the installation, repair, maintenance of electrical systems
  • Use industry related hand tools and power tools, under supervision
  • Assist the Electrician with measuring, cutting, bending, threading and installing wire and electrical cable systems, conduit systems, etc.
  • Assist the Electrician with wire and cable placement according to blueprint plans and direction
  • Assist the Electrician to splice and terminate wires at junction points
  • Cleanup, gathering and transporting materials to electricians on the construction site.
  • Communicate effectively with Foremen and crew members
  • Maintain workflow schedule to ensure productivity objectives are met
 

Qualifications – dependent on level of program completion:
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, basic circuits, branch circuits and specialty systems
  • Knowledge of magnetic induction, three-phase transformers, conductors and wiring methods
  • The ability to read and understand electrical blueprints
  • Familiar with aspects of operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment and how to safely use them
  • Ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with colleagues, vendors, contractors, etc.
